The Western four seasons don’t often align with what the sky, soil, plants, and animals are doing.
Aboriginal people have long read the subtle signs of Country to know not only which season it is, but also when a new one is quietly beginning. This innate seasonal knowledge guides them on when to harvest, burn, and travel.
CSIRO has worked with several remote communities to record this knowledge, which has been built over generations of observation. Our role has put all the pieces in place to tell the ‘Caring for Country’ story, with rich visual treatments, to express each community’s deep connection to Country.
